Headshots, Kimmel, etc…

Dear Parents and Young Actors,

“Flaming enthusiasm backed by horse sense and
persistence, is the quality that most frequently
makes for success.” —–Dale Carnegie

I love that quote…why? Because HORSE SENSE is
the knowledge and power to know that if you WORK
ON YOUR SKILLS, YOUR SKILLS IMPROVE.

Some news to tell you about.

First, headshots from HEADSHOT DAY are up, and
you can access them HERE.
http://actorsite.shootproof.com/aug252012

It’s simple to get a digital download and take that
to your printer for 8 X 10 prints, or to use on the
internet.

They will print nicely.

Good job with the wardrobe, since everyone wore nice
bright colors. Plus super smiles!

Second:

Yes, those are Actorsite Kids on the Jimmy Kimmel show
several nights per week. Congratulations to the ones
who have let me know they booked!

Not everyone has notified me of their bookings but I’ve
seen 7 year old MORGAN BERTSCH, 11 year old ANJINI AHZAR,
7 year old ZACH HAVEN, 12 year old DAVID HAAG, 10 Year Old
Madison Dae Clarion, 14 year old Jonina Gable, 14 year old
TY PARKER, 14 year old STUART ALLEN, and ABBY BECK…

If I missed your child, please send me an email.

Kids love to work on that show (JIMMY KIMMEL LIVE) because
it’s usually a short skit and tons of fun…

Plus, many times, they are working with big stars and
doing fun bits with them.

Plus, it’s SAG-AFTRA Scale, so it pays well…EXCELLENT.

We’ll have the casting director for that show back in
September, so kids (and parents) can learn the skills they need to
work on late night television.

Plus kids need to learn how to do those skits, since
by next month there will 8 late night shows shooting in
Los Angeles!

Nice!

THIRD:

Actorsiters continue to ROCK OUT in the big tentpole
movies this year.

I might have missed someone, but AEDIN MINCKS was in
HANGOVER II, AMADLA STENBERG was in THE HUNGER GAMES,
SKYLER GISONDO was in both THE THREE STOOGES and THE AMAZING
SPIDERMAN, KELSEY CHOW as also in THE AMAZING SPIDERMAN,
TUCKER ALBRIZZI as the voice of Neil in PARANORMAN,
and I’m sure I’ve missed some performances, but I’m
proud of everyone.

Now, I found out JADEN GOULD will be LANA LANG in the
upcoming MAN OF STEEL movie, with Russell Crowe, Amy Adams,
Kevin Costner, and Diane Lane. AWESOME!

CONGRATULATIONS JADEN!

Hey, Jack recent letters

“HEY JACK” Some letters from the inbox…

Dear Readers,

Here are some recent emails sent to me and I want to start
to send out the “HEY JACK” messages weekly. So if you have a
showing, airing, booking or industry related comment to make regarding
Actorsite, just send to Actorsite.support@gmail.com with
the heading “HEY JACK”…

I’ll put up many of them in my weekly “HEY JACK” email.

I would love to hear updates from current and past Actorsiters.

Be sure to include information on COMMERCIALS booked, too,
since we have been kind of lax about announcing that, even though
Actorsiters have 25 or 30 nationals running right now.

Also, I want to apologize to Jordan Van Vranken and her
mom Rita, because I started this column too late to help
promote her film “AFTER THE WIZARD” which was in limited
release in early August.

It was your efforts that inspired me to start this column, so
thank you, and I’ll watch for Jordan’s new promos in my
email box.

Here we go:

Jack,

I can’t thank you enough for the great demo reel you did
for Caroline. Annet loves it and she is trying to get a
voice over agent with the demo. I also had someone comment
that they paid 1500 dollars for one and Caroline’s sounded
better. Thanks for caring ……. and keeping things
affordable so I can help Caroline achieve her dream.

Hi Jack,

Thank you for your information and passion in getting young
actors the skills and professionalism they need in this difficult
industry. I wanted to share that Sophia Linkletter a long time
Actorsiter just booked a lead in a feature film called Gawkward.
She plays the role of Lucy. It is a teen comedy and has so many
fresh, fun ideas in regards to the difficulties of growing up.

Thanks again, Adrianne and Sophia

Hi Jack,

Sorry it has taken me so long to follow up with you since
my daughter, Meredith, took
the Sketch Comedy Camp with Kimberly Crandall back in July.

I just wanted to let you know how much Meredith enjoyed
the class. We were very impressed by the amount of casting directors that
showed up on a beautiful sunny Sunday for the showcase.

We would have stayed longer and taken many more classes at
Actorsite, but due to a show Meredith was in locally we were tied to New
England for the entire summer.

Thanks again.

Susan and Meredith Morhun
p.s. Hope you had a chance to enjoy the maple spread:-)

Actorsite Parent = Superhero

YOU ARE A SUPERHERO!
SATURDAY IS HEADSHOT DAY FOR FAST TRACKERS!
==================================
ACTORSITE PARENT = SUPERHERO
==================================
Dear Parents,
These days, there are so many shows and movies about
superheroes on the big screen and TV.
Today, I want to address the fact that YOU as an ACTORSITE
PARENT are a superhero…
You don’t need a mask or cape, you don’t need to leap
buildings or fly through the air. In every aspect, though
you are AMAAAAAAZING! Just like Spiderman, Batman, or Catwoman.
1. You provide a safe and nurturing environment for your
young creative so they can grow and prosper.
2. You help your child deal with rejection so that your child
can be creatively successful.
3. You provide a strong base from which your child can build
skills and confidence. You are the CEO of your child’s career.
4. You provide educational opportunities that other parents
aren’t even aware of. You found Actorsite’s FAST TRACK program,
and you revel in their skill development.
5. You provide transportation and support when your young creative
is needed around town.
6. You provide a financial base from which your young child can
work, and you carefully protect their earnings. As the CFO of
your child’s career, you have the final say in all financial
transactions.
7. You are constantly wary and protective of your child.
And you know you always have to be “within sight or sound” of
your child in professional situations.
8. You guide your child’s career through the “spiderweb” of
Hollywood, constantly screening new opportunities and ensuring
that what appears to be an opportunity really is! It’s tough
because there are so many distractions.
YOU ARE A SUPERHERO!
CAN YOU ADD TO THIS LIST? ANY SUGGESTIONS?
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Did you know? (HEADSHOT DAY SATURDAY)
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
So many young Actorsiters built huge careers taking advantage
of our “HEADSHOT DAY” that we had from time to time.
We’re bringing back “HEADSHOT DAY” and I will be shooting
5 frames of high quality headshots for each young FAST TRACK MEMBER.
There is NO SHOOTING FEE, so it’s a PERK OF MEMBERSHIP!
Arrive ready to shoot. NO CLOTHING CHANGES, PLEASE!
This is a great way to add a new look, try out a new
look or experiment with hair color or glasses…
I have a new camera and this way I can “break it in”, plus I
can train any parents who wish to learn how to shoot headshots
on the best techniques…NICE!
So SATURDAY is “HEADSHOT DAY” where we’ll be shooting 5 frames
of TOP QUALITY NATURAL LIGHT HEADSHOTS between the hours of
NOON and 12:30 pm! Arrive early if you need to prep.
ONE OUTFIT…BRING BRIGHT, RICH COLORS (NO PASTELS OR WHITE),
and be READY TO SHOOT!…IT WILL BE FUN.
Plus my wife, Jesserel will be helping me, and she rocks!
As you may not know, I’ve shot about 10,000 headshots in my previous life
as a Director of Photography. So I have a little practice.
We’ll have fun SATURDAY!
All the best,
Jack Turnbull

Courage

“Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is
the courage to continue that counts.”  —Winston Churchill

—————————-
Courage is a muscle.,,
—————————

Dear Readers,

It takes tremendous courage to tackle a creative
career.

And with the risks come huge rewards for those who
“stick it out”.

Each and every day we have to stretch and loosen
up our COURAGE muscle.

As you know, I constantly repeat the mantra “Acting
is a muscle, you have to work it out.”

So let me change that a little and say “Courage is
a muscle, you have to work it out!”

Each and every day, we have to take those challenges
that we have been avoiding, those challenges that
could move us a little closer to our creative goals,
and we have to face them with an open heart to allow
ourselves to find the truth in our creative lives
and to confront our own dark instincts of self defeat.

I am challenging myself by sending this today! I know
that every time I send a message I will receive criticism,
so it’s my courage that lets me send you this message
today.

So, right now, take your  courage and loosen it up
and practice it in little ways.

Find those things that you dread doing because of fear
of failure, and confront them and take  small steps to
challenge your courage muscle and face down your fears.

If you are a parent, encourage your child to do the
same.

Do it in small ways and that way, as you approach those
larger fears, you know that you are gaining strength and
growing and you have STRONG COURAGE.

Remember, your fears are there to protect you from
danger, but in the modern world many times your
F-E-A-R becomes FALSE EVIDENCE APPEARING REAL.

What we are afraid of is rarely what is the real
danger.

So, if you just move yourself into the arena
that you fear, you can confront those fears and
find the courage to continue. I have to do it
every day.

So flexing your courage muscle will give you the
confidence to fight on as a creative warrior.

“…most important, have the courage to follow your
heart and intuition.”
Steve Jobs

Cleaning up the clutter…
————————————-

Wow, did this quote hit me like a piano…

“The next time you feel down or low or sad tackle your
junk drawer or your closet and get rid of anything you
don’t use or really, really love. Be ruthless, you probably
won’t miss it if you throw it out – how important can it be
if its been in the back of your closet for two years? You’ll
be amazed how much better you feel and how much lighter the
space you live in becomes.”—mk

I have at least TWO major spaces in my life that need
tidying up…I’ll get on it now!

Jack

3 Reasons to have a Voice Over Demo

3 super reasons why you should record a voice-over reel.

Dear Parents and Young Actors,

I’m scheduling my famous VOICE-OVER DEMOS the next
couple of weeks.

WHY?

1. Each young actor can learn and practice new skills
so that they can sharpen another arrow for their
bow.

2. It gives a young actor a “slight edge” over those
kids who don’t have a demo online. Casting can hear
a voice sample so they KNOW what they are getting
if they audition you…they’ll be getting TOP TALENT.

3. It will boost confidence to higher levels for each
young actor. Having a “hot” new voice-over demo gives each
young actor added confidence in booking roles when
auditioning “in the booth” or in regular auditions.

We’ll schedule your voice-demo as soon as we receive your
payment: http://tinyurl.com/comvoicedemo

As you probably know, those that I’ve done demos for
have booked HUNDREDS of voice over jobs, including
commercials, TV SHOWS like Special Agent Oso, PHINEAS
and FERB, JACK AND NEVERLAND PIRATES, etc., and, of
course feature films.

Voice over is fun and profitable for kids.

As you probably know,  the YOUTH-VOICE-OVER market
is way underserved and that kids who pursue Voice-Over
and who excel at doing it are in high demand in Los
Angeles.

Because of that fact, we are going to continue to
encourage young Actorsiters to work on VOICE-OVER SKILLS
and we want you to know that the industry is watching
and wants YOUR CHILD to develop those valuable skills.

It’s great fun for the kids, and it’s a way for them to
PRACTICE AND LEARN at the same time as they BUILD
A SOLID DEMO SAMPLE.

Demos need to be updated with the change and growth of kids
and your voice over demo is many times soon out of date.

That’s why we offer this simple service at a VERY
REASONABLE RATE!!!

ORDER YOUR VOICE OVER DEMO NOW AND WE’LL SCHEDULE TIMES
AS SOON AS YOU’VE ORDERED. DURING THE WEEK OR WEEKENDS…

This is a super way TO LEARN AND GROW and BUILD YOUR
BANK OF ATTITUDES AND VOICES.

We’ll do four 15 second commercials for your demo.

You’ll get an .mp3 DEMO for your web presence and to send
to industry.

And, importantly, we’ll add a hot “sizzle” track under the voices,
so that your demo ROCKS and is industry standard.

Show your book-ability with a HOT VOICE OVER DEMO!

COST: Just $149.00
