Hey Jack Messages Plus Encouragement

Some “HEY JACK” messages, plus info…

Dear Readers,

I’ve lost my “HEY JACK” file for the past week or so,
so RESEND if your message isn’t on here today. I found
some of the messages, but the main file got erased…

We are so proud of Actorsiters who build successful
careers “ONE STEP AT A TIME”…

Remember, when you read these messages, that the
parents of each of these young actors were sitting in
the Actorsite waiting room night after night,
and on weekends , waiting for their
child to finish their class or workshop.

Always providing support, always encouraging them
to get better and better at their craft.

So those parents who bring their kids to Actorsite
are doing what it takes to encourage creativity and
the love to do the work.

So keep up the good work, parents…it takes time and
lots of hard work to build a career, and at the Actorsite,
we make sure you don’t BREAK THE BANK doing it,
since our FAST TRACK classes are, as one casting director
stated “THE BEST KEPT SECRET IN TOWN” since she
raved about the skills we develop in our Fast Track
program.

We had RAVE reviews over our showcase last evening, too.

We had 5 Casting Director guests, covering shows like
AUSTIN AND ALLIE, DOG WITH A BLOG, JESSIE, ANGER MANAGEMENT,
THE MIDDLE, JIMMY KIMMEL LIVE, PILOTS AND FEATURE
FILMS.

Plus we had a ton of other industry, including
agents and managers, and the producers of a top
new primetime TV COMEDY, and high concept feature
films. NICE!

Some “HEY JACK” updates:

TONIGHT, TUESDAY: Teenage Actorsiter ASHLEE FUSS guests on

Plus, from Actorsiter Holden Dahlerbroch’s Mom:

Hello, Jack:
I just wanted to let you know that Holden just finished filming
Killer Kids. He played Jerry which is his first principal role.
The week before he filmed a PSA which was a kids running
contest spot. He is looking forward to honing some more of
his acting skills at the showcase class this weekend!

GOOD JOB!

And, I ran into Actorsiter Shelby Young’s Mom yesterday
at our Showcase (She’s now a personal manager).

Actorsiter Shelby Young has just finished TWO feature films,
NIGHTLIGHT to be released in 2013 and THE MIDNIGHT GAME
also to be released in 2013.

And her guest starring role on CRIMINAL MINDS airs
in OCTOBER! SUPER!

You’ll probably remember her from WILD CHILD starring
with EMMA ROBERTS, and of course her chilling turn
as LEAH on  AMERICAN HORROR STORY!

FANTASTIC!

FROM FACEBOOK:

“Giving a shout out to Mr. Jack over at Actorsite!! I learned some
amazing acting skills over there when I first came to
Cali!! Thanks to you and your wonderful staff!!!!”

That came from Actorsiter Adrian Kali Turner, who
stars in the movie BAD TEACHER and was compelling
in the first season of THE WALKING DEAD!

He’s got TWO more features to be released this year,
THE JACK STORY, and STANDING UP, plus compelling
performances in CAMP FRED and DON’T TRUST THE
B— IN APARTMENT 23. And, of course dozens of
TV guest roles!

BUSY!

Did you see the PREMIERE of THE FIRST FAMILY
this past weekend. It aired SAT at 5 pm and SUN
at 6 pm on the CW Channel KCAL 5 in LA.

It stars Actorsiter LAYLA CRAWFORD as the
first daughter…FUN!  We’ll be watching this weekend
for round 2 of this sitcom.

YOU ROCK, LAYLA!

UPDATE ON ACTORSITER SHAYNE TOPP!

Shayne has been starring as Shayne Zabo on
SO RANDOM for the Disney Channel, plus he’s
had turns on FRED THE SHOW, LOVE BITES, ICARLY,
and several indie films and shorts.

SUPER SHAYNE!

Speaking of SO RANDOM, Actorsiter Sterling Knight
stars with Jim Caviezel and Diora Baird in the thriller
TRANSIT to be released this year.

Plus he’s busy with his singing career. You can
upload his songs from the TV movie STARSTRUCK
on Itunes.

FANTABULOUS!

That’s all for now, I’ll send more next week. And please
resend if you sent earlier this week or last week. I’m a
klutz sometime on the computer.

Keep Plugging and keep supporting your child in their
creative endeavors!

Home School Group “TUTORING” Sessions

HOME SCHOOL TUTORING AT ACTORSITE

Dear Parents,

MARY FEGREUS is not only a killer actress and supportive
acting coach, but also she is a trained tutor, training
at the University of Massachusetts, in Amherst, MA.

Her Bachelor of Arts (Magna Cum Laude, Honors) from the University
of Massachusetts gives her a solid base from which to
work.

She’s experienced in elementary math, literature, essay writing,
and critical thinking and can tutor in all subjects. She tutors
from ages K through College, so she knows her stuff.

And the most important thing is this: She loves to help
kids with their schoolwork. She “gets it” when working with
young students.

So: BIG FLOURISH DUH, DUH, DUH DAAAAAAAH!

We are announcing “HOME SCHOOL TUTORING” at the Actorsite.

It’s pretty simple, really:

1. Bring your computer and child to do the work. We have wi-fi, etc.
If you need paper printed out, we have a printer, etc. for that.

2. Parents may “drop off” kids and have three hours free for
shopping, etc. Don’t be late picking them up!

3. Mary will supervise online instruction  and give help when
needed for all schoolwork assignments for homeschoolers.

4. If you need private tutoring (not in a group setting)
you can schedule with her separately for a separate fee.

5. We are limiting the number of students, so there will
be personal supervision.

6. If a child is staying for ACTING CLASSES that day,
we will supervise their lunch (lunch is not provided).

COST: $70 per three hour session (ask how you can reduce it
$60 )

We are starting small: TUESDAY and THURSDAY next week,
September 25 and September 27. Time: 9:45 am  to 12:45 pm.

We’ll continue TUES and THURS and expand if there is
a growth of demand.

If you wish to ask Mary Questions, or you wish to RSVP,
send to mary.fegreus@gmail.com .

Plus, she’ll be at Actorsite this SATURDAY at 10 am to
answer any questions.

Super, this is a a way to build and grow.

All the best,

Jack Turnbull

Are you new to Actorsite and our Casting Director events?

When you, as a new new parent, attend Actorsite Casting
Director events, you may have endless questions for the Casting
Directors because you may feel out of the loop in
the casting process.

As you attend more and more workshops, you
grow comfortable with Casting Directors and a
picture emerges of how the industry works.

Kids love Casting Director events because it’s a time
for them to practice audition skills without the pressure
of having to book the job.

Creative kids develop relationships with creative
casting directors that can last a lifetime. It’s important
that kids ENJOY the casting process, because the they
will spend more time auditioning than they will working
in the early stages of a career.

Producers are spending MILLIONS of dollars on their
projects. You want them to hire your child.

If producers are going to risk MILLIONS, and you want
them to consider your child, YOU, as a PRO-ACTIVE PARENT,
need to make sure you are presenting a talented,
educated child to them who is guided by a knowledgeable
“PARENT CEO” who understands the industry and has
their own connections and relationships.

CASTING DIRECTORS TEACH KILLER CLASSES AT THE ACTORSITE!

1. They provide valuable inside information to parents and
young actors.
2. Young actors perform representative material under the
watchful eye of industry professions.
3. Many times they provide written feedback that parents can
take to their acting coach for future improvement.

It’s always a WIN – WIN at the Actorsite! NICE!

BOOK MORE COMMERCIALS

Dear Parents and Actors,

Where do the “HOT” commercial kids learn
those skills to BOOK so many commercials?

Currently, Actorsiters have 31 National Commercials,
and tons of other commercials running.

So the answer to me is: THE ACTORSITE.

What is the “magic” of Actorsite training?

One of our “secret” weapons is Acting Coach
Kimberly Crandall.

When she teaches commercial skills, the magic happens.

We’ve scheduled a special COMMERCIAL INTENSIVE CLASS
on October 14 for young actors to work on COMMERCIAL
BOOKING SKILLS.

It goes from 10 am to 4 pm (Includes Pizza and Snacks)
and here’s what it will cover.

1. The “Magic” slate. Young actors learn to make their
slate a “magical moment” that almost guarantees a
callback and avail.

2. You’ve got the look they need, NOW BOOK IT! Even
if you are exactly right for a commercial, you still need
to show personality and direct ability.

3. Using IMPROVISATION to make your characters come alive!
Kimberly is a master at teaching young actors to COME
ALIVE on camera, even when everyone else is just standing
there.

4. 5 Commercials, 5 Different Challenges, 5 ways to
book those National Commercials.

5. Practice Auditioning, practice callbacks, practice
booking, and, see the playback of your audition, and the
person who booked it!

5. The “BUTTON” to make them demand an encore! When your
audition ROCKS, end it with ENERGY and POWER!

This exciting workshop is just $149 and is class size is
limited!

This will fill fast!

AGES 9 to 14 years only. CLICK HERE TO RSVP:

Sample Headshots II

Dear Parents,

We are having another HEADSHOT DAY  this SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 16,  for Actorsite Fast Trackers.

We will be shooting from 9:30 to 10:30 am and we’ll shoot 10 frames of high quality digital photographs with no shooting fee. This is a super way to add a new look to your repertoire for your online portfolio, or to update your look if you’ve changed your look.

Wear rich,  bright colors (no pastels), like RED, DARK BLUE, DARK GREEN, etc., for best results. Layered is good too. Jesserel is shooting killer headshots, and the kids LOVE her!

Kids should update their headshots every few months, and teens at least twice per year, so this is a way to update your look without investing a fortune.

Arrive ready to shoot! See some samples below.

Jack Turnbull
