Your Voice Is the Character
Animation & Voiceover with Coach Gio

Anyone can do a funny voice. Animation needs a CHARACTER.

You know the moment. Your squeaky mouse voice cracks up the whole family, your grumpy old wizard is legendary at sleepovers...then the script says “Pip, a nervous robot who just found out he can fly” and your brain goes completely quiet. Where does Pip’s voice even come from?

It comes from the acting. In this hands-on virtual 2-week class, you’ll build animated characters from the inside out: who they are, what they want, and what they’re feeling right this second. The voice grows out of those choices, and that’s where it gets fun.

Taught by Coach Giovannie Espiritu, who coached Rosalie Chiang as Mei in Pixar’s Turning Red and has worked behind the scenes with Pixar on Elio and Luca. She knows exactly what it takes to bring an animated character to life.

Directors aren’t looking for the “right” read. They’re looking for YOUR read.

Six takes in and you still can’t pick which one to send? All that guessing flattens your read. Directors light up when an actor makes clear, specific choices about the character, the story, and the moment.

Taught by award-winning filmmaker Coach Gio Espiritu, who has directed Oscar-nominated talent and international stars and is a working TV/film actor herself. She’s sent the tapes AND watched them from the director’s chair.
