Voiceover: How to Edit Voiceover Auditons

in Audacity

Editing, editing, editing!  How do you use Audacity?  How much should you be editing your auditions?  How do you export a file? 

Learn all this and more in this one day virtual workshop covering the basics of using Audacity to send clean and professional audio, whether you are auditioning or sending a session file from home! Coach Valerie will also give guidance and useful tips on your at-home voice-over recording setup.

Led by AWARD WINNING Coach and Working VO Artist Valerie Rose-Lohman who has extensive experience in the gaming world; Coach Valerie is a BAFTA Nominated Voiceover actor and MoCap performer based in LA. Vertical Intensive

📱🎬 Verticals are one of the fastest-growing areas of entertainment, creating new opportunities for actors every day. But these auditions move fast and require a very specific approach.

In this 1-day intensive, actors will learn how to approach Vertical auditions with confidence through self-tape review, live coaching, and mock callbacks.

WHAT YOU'LL LEARN:

✔ How Vertical auditions differ from TV, Film, and Soap Operas

✔ The most common character types found in vertical content

✔ How to break down sides and make strong choices quickly

✔ Self-tape techniques specific to Vertical auditions

✔ A chance to see how quickly and thoroughly you can apply the adjustments 

✔ Two contrasting character types to help prepare you for a variety of vertical roles

HOW IT WORKS:

Prior to class, actors will be assigned a character breakdown and set of sides (script.) Students will prepare and submit a self-tape before class, just like a real audition.

During class, audition tapes will be reviewed live and actors will be given personalized feedback. Actors will then have the chance to perform the scene again in a mock callback setting. 

Whether you're already receiving Vertical auditions or preparing for your first one, this intensive will help you build the skills needed to stand out.

A Practical Workshop for Parents

This workshop is designed for parents of neurodiverse actors who want clear, practical, and compassionate tools to support their child’s creativity, confidence, and long-term success in the industry.

Who This Workshop Is For: This workshop is for parents of neurodiverse actors (ADHD, Autism, Dyslexia, sensory processing differences, or other unique learning profiles) who seek tools that prioritize emotional safety, communication, and long-term development alongside professional goals.

Whether your child is navigating auditions, self-tapes, or the emotional ups and downs of acting, this workshop offers language, structure, and strategies to support them without overwhelm.

What You Will Gain in This Workshop:

• Clear, practical language for communicating with your child about acting, direction, auditions, and feedback

• Strategies to create a sustainable practice at home that honors your child’s mindset and learning style

• Understanding of how neurodivergent performers process direction, pressure, and creative expectations

• Supportive approaches to auditions and self-taping that support the whole family

This session focuses on real-world tools that help families work together. Honoring both the actor’s strengths and the parent’s role in their journey.

About Your Instructor: Amanda Kiener-Tobias is a neurodiverse actress, working professional, and proud parent of neurodiverse children. With years of experience coaching, working with, and learning alongside neurodiverse talent, she brings both lived experience and professional insight. Amanda is currently completing studies in early childhood development and inclusive education and practices in the classroom.
